| "Team Hopkinton" Charity Runners: Thanks to the generosity of the Boston Athletic Association, the coordinator of the Boston Marathon, the HAA is provided several runner bib numbers for each annual race. The HAA then coordinates a program whereby the recipient runners pledge to raise a target amount of funds on behalf of HAA programs and activites. The three specific programs supported by Team Hopkinton are a multi-year $20,000 commitment to fund local Special Olympic teams, East Coast Jumbos special needs youth hockey, and to provide matching moneys to improve the community's athletic fields. The HAA provides the runners with training advice, race day singlet, a bus tour, luncheon with the Kenyan marathoners, a special location to warm-up at the start line, and other goodies. (If you are interested in running for Team Hopkinton next year, email us at info@haa-ma.org)
Marathon Week Kick-Off Event: To mark the beginning of Hopkinton's Marathon Week, the HAA sponsors an event that draws a crowd. The event is described on the "Programs" page of the website.
Merchandise Sales: The HAA is authorized by contract from the Boston Athletic Association (Thank you BAA!) to sell "Official" Boston Marathon merchandise. The HAA also sells other items of its own design. Come visit our tent on the Hopkinton Town Common during Marathon Weekend! Please see the "Let's Go Shop!" section of the website for available items.
Corporate Partnerships: The HAA endeavors to collaborate with local, regional, and natonal businesses to increase visibility of both the business and the HAA. Such endeavors may be in the form of helping to sell our merchandise or event tickets which involved area businesses such as Hopkinton Gourmet and Action Copy Plus, to our poster art program sponsored in 2009 by 21st Century Benefits andRM Clark Associates, and our "Banner Program" which adds color and excitement to the starting area the week of the race and has featured "Staples" in recent years. Working jointly with the Boston Athletic Association and the Hopkinton Public Schools, we were able to raise funds for the community athletic field project.
Individual Donations: Any individual may make a tax-exempt contribution to the HAA. Please send a check for any particular program or for our general activities to Hopkinton Athletic Association, PO Box 820, Hopkinton, MA 01748.
